Grassroots Resilience Institute (GRI) – Regional Hub
Overview
The Grassroots Resilience Institute (GRI) is a capacity-strengthening initiative established in 2022 to build a more resilient ecosystem of CBOs and CSOs, with a specific focus on supporting grassroots organizations (CSOs) led by marginalized communities.
How We Work
Under the regional hub of this initiative, ANKITA is focusing on NT-DNT community organizations.
Why GRI Was Created
It was created to recognize that, although grassroots CSOs play a critical role in advancing social change, cohesion, and justice, they often struggle to sustain their work due to limited institutional capacity, scarce flexible resources, and a challenging operating environment shaped by rising compliance requirements and shrinking civic space.
What GRI Does
GRI responds to these realities by offering structured, comprehensive organizational development (OD) support that strengthens CSOs’ core systems and capabilities—covering areas such as:
- Financial management
- Compliance
- Governance
- Leadership development
- Organizational policies
- Fundraising
- Donor engagement
so these organizations are better equipped for long-term sustainability and impact.
Future Vision & Approach
Going forward, GRI aims to scale its work by supporting a large number of organizations through a broader ecosystem approach anchored in three pillars:
- Institutional Resilience
- Strategic Relevance
- Holistic Well-Being
ensuring that grassroots organizations not only become stronger internally but are also better connected, future-ready, and able to contribute to systemic change.
