Have you ever felt lost?

Not just geographically, but in life caught between responsibility and survival, between dreams and the daily grind?

Now, imagine a young father from a quiet village in Telangana. He kisses his sleeping children goodbye before dawn and boards a crowded bus to a city he’s never seen. He carries no suitcase, just a tiffin box, a few tools, and a heart full of hope. He’s not just looking for a job he’s chasing a future for his family. But what he finds at the other end is often far from what he imagined.

Crowded labour camps, unsafe work sites, withheld wages, and no one to turn to when injury or injustice strikes this is the reality for millions of migrant workers across India. Their hands build our cities, but their own lives are left unprotected.

“Yet in the face of this harsh reality, hope takes the form of action. That’s where ANKITA steps in.”

Who We Are

ANKITA

Association for Needy and Kindle the Illiterate Through Action was born from a simple, powerful truth: every worker deserves to live with dignity. We’re here not just to fill forms or tick boxes we’re here to listen, to stand beside, and to fight for those who are too often forgotten.

What We Do

We walk alongside migrant workers helping them access health care, accident relief, legal aid, and social security through the very systems meant to serve them. We don’t create new paths we clear the existing ones, ensuring that government schemes and worker protections truly reach those they were designed for.

How We Work

By working closely with local authorities, contractors, and community leaders, we’re building bridges of trust, protection, and empowerment. Because when systems work the way they should, families don’t fall apart after a tragedy, children don’t drop out of school, and no worker is left behind.

Our Belief

We imagine a world where no one has to choose between survival and safety. A world where workers don’t have to beg for their rights, but are respected for the vital roles they play.

Our Commitment

At ANKITA, we’re not just envisioning that world we’re working to build it, one worker, one family, one story at a time.

A Tragic Loss, A Helping Hand

Sri Mudavath Ramjee, a mason from Nazeerabad Thanda, Vikarabad, died in a road accident in December 2021, leaving his wife, Soni Bai, and two children with grief and a ₹7 lakh wedding loan. Unaware of their BOCW labour card’s benefits, they struggled until ANKITA’s awareness program guided them to claim accidental death relief from the BOCW Welfare Board.
Soni Bai expressed, “Without ANKITA, we wouldn’t have known what to do. Thank you for standing with us.”
This reflects the plight of countless workers unaware of their rights, underscoring the need for awareness and empathy to make welfare schemes effective.
